Maaaaa - those loving words

I swear, every time utter those words I know my mom cringes thinking 'what does she want now?' And I utter those words all the time. I've recently moving back home after living overseas and it's been tough adjusting to having my mom always needing to know where I am but I guess, that's one of the things about living back at home you can't run away from. It's what being a mom is - from what I've heard - is all about.

I don't feel like airing my mom's dirty laundry to get into detail as to why she frakkin' rocks and deserves all the happiness in the world, so I'll make it short and sweet using bullet points.

Mom with my goddaugher :)

  • She gave birth to me
  • She had a dream of being a teacher and without any degree, she has single handedly built her business from 6 babies in our old home to a wonderful, loving and nurturing nursery school.
  • She doesn't stop there but for the last few years has been running Safe Childminders, making sure the crèches, nursery schools and daycares are all up to standard for your little ones.
  • She is the friendliest person I have ever met.
  • She has been at every single one of my hockey matches over the last 12 years and put me through 6 tournaments a year at her expense, for my happiness
  • She never says no
  • She dealt with my father's infidelities with a lot of strength
  • She is friends with my friends
  • She has to deal with my brother, my sister and me all the time. That deserves an award.
  • She gives the best hugs in the world
  • She loves education and it's awesome to sit in her school and watch the children from 3 months - 5 years grow and learn.
  • She doesn't only have 3 children but 2 nieces who adore her, 5 school kids who are like her own and has touched the lives of 100s of children and I can't wait for her to look after my own when I have some babalaaas.
Mom with my cousins
  • She makes a mean cheese cake. There is NOTHING better then her cheese cake. Same for her sweet and sour chicken. Nomnomnom
  • She loves the TV shows I do; Alias, Bones, Gilmore Girls and it's great bonding time.
  • She deals with my crap and laziness. Props to that.
  • She loves her family

My mother's name is Maxine Silverstone. If you ever see her (she'll be the one talking loudly), let her know that she rocks.

Dealing with us 3 (old pic). The end :)
